Proprietary Foods Testing
With the implementation of the food safety and standards act by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of
India (FSSAI), the government has been actively working towards providing safe food to the citizens of our
country. In these regulations, a previously unregulated segment of foods called Proprietary foods has now
been included.
Proprietary food is a category which includes all the food products that have not been standardised under
the Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011. It is a new category introduced by the Food Safety and
Standards Authority of India, to bring about the uniformity in the stringency of regulatory standards for
all kinds of food products. This initiative also led to the growth in the development and processing of
innovative food products.
As part of the application for product approval of a proprietary food, the food business operators are
required to submit a certificate of analysis from an NABL accredited and FSSAI recognized laboratory like
registered Labs in our plateform for testing such as confirming the label claims like nutritional label
and values. The manufacturer of such a product shall clearly mention on the label, that the food product
is a proprietary food. Our registered Labs can help you confirm compliance with labeling requirements
and with preparing your application. Food business operators are also required to submit complete data
of shelf life studies which have been conducted to establish the product shelf life and clearly
demonstrate that the product shall remain stable till its expiry date mentioned on the product label.
All Labs has been supporting the dietary supplement and nutraceutical industry and accredited by the
National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and approved by various
regulatory bodies such as Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Bureau of Indian Standards
(BIS), APEDA, Ministry of AYUSH, etc.
